Profiling
This is a volunteer role and is one of the most skilled positions. Profilers have:
- Knowledge of human movement
- Experience in the activity (surfing, paddling or swimming)
- Skill in observation and communication
- Skill in critical thinking
To optimize ability and support function, a profile is used to communicate needed adaptations and supports to aid a person to get into the water and participate in water sports in the least restrictive manner. We can look at performance in a particular water activity to have 3 components: the personal factors, environmental factors, and activity factors. Adaptations to any of these factors can promote performance in a desired activity.
